The artwork in this coin series draws inspiration from the Chinese art of paper-cutting. Chinese paper-cutting, or 'jianzhi', is the art of carving out intricate designs from paper to decorate windows and lanterns. Said to have originated after the invention of paper in 105 CE, the folk art tradition is still practiced to this day. In 2009, it was inscribed into the to UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a list comprising intangible heritage elements that highlight the diversity of this heritage and raise awareness of its significance
Rotating horse design
The coin’s reverse incorporates a rotating gold-plated sterling silver horse bead. It is surrounded by five horses in varying poses, illustrated to emulate the style of Chinese paper-cutting, set amid stylised foliage. Also included is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, and 2026 year-date.

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is presented in a classic black display case with a clear lid and stylishly themed shipper.
