Struck at the Rome Mint in AD 155–156, this impressive bronze sestertius was issued for the future Emperor Marcus Aurelius while he was still Caesar under Antoninus Pius. The obverse features a bare-headed, draped portrait of Marcus Aurelius, while the reverse depicts Minerva standing with an owl and sceptre, her shield resting at her feet.
Measuring 33mm and weighing 24.92 grams, this attractive Imperial bronze is a historically significant and highly desirable Roman coin.
