Spartacus (c. 111–71 BCE) was a Thracian gladiator and leader of a major slave revolt against Rome, known as the Third Servile War (73–71 BCE). A skilled strategist, he united thousands of enslaved people to challenge Roman dominance. Despite initial victories, Spartacus was ultimately defeated, symbolising resistance to oppression.
