Australian Lunar Series III 2027 Year of the Goat 1oz Silver Proof Coin
Lunar story
According to Chinese tradition, the emperor ordered a great race between all the animals on Earth to determine who should occupy 12 positions in the lunar calendar. In pursuit of the seventh-placed horse, the gentle and determined goat travelled alongside the monkey and the rooster. As they approached the finish line, the trio worked together to cross a wide river. Leading the way, the goat reached the other side and crossed the line to claim eighth place.
Year of the Goat design
The coin’s reverse depicts a mature goat, a young goat and a baby goat grazing peacefully. The image embodies the auspicious phrase “Three Goats Bring Bliss” symbolising the end of winter and the arrival of spring, the renewal of all things and prosperous new beginnings. Featured in the design is a plum blossom tree representing purity, resilience and hope. Also included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘Goat’, the inscription ‘GOAT 2027’, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
