Swans are commonly seen in wetlands, river estuaries, bays and great lakes throughout Australia, from the east to west coast. Where wetlands areas are permanent, the swans are thought to be sedentary. However, if the wetlands dry out, they are capable of taking flight in search of suitable habitat. They have been sighted in semi-arid region including Central Australia, where there are semi-permanent and permanent waterholes.
The coin’s coloured reverse depicts a magnificent black swan soaring above a picturesque lake set amongst a tranquil countryside. The background features a vibrant rainbow stretching across the sky with drifting clouds. Also included in the design is the inscription ‘2026 1oz 9999 AUSTRALIAN SILVER SWAN’ and a ‘P10’ mintmark, signifying the tenth
anniversary of the swan design released by The Perth Mint.
