2024 Wombat 1oz Silver Coin
The wombat, a robust quadruped native to the forested, mountainous, and heathland regions of eastern Australia and Tasmania, is celebrated in this exceptional release. With its powerful limbs and sharp, flat claws, the wombat is adept at tunneling, making it one of the largest burrowing mammals in the world, reaching up to one meter in length.
Each coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Perth Mint has limited the mintage to just 25,000 of the Australian Wombat 2024 1oz Silver Bullion Coins, each encased in a protective capsule.
The reverse side of the coin features an intricate portrayal of a wombat and its ‘joey’, surrounded by detailed depictions of vegetation, gum trees, birds, and clouds. The design includes the inscription ‘WOMBAT’, the ‘P125’ mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and the 2024 year-date. The obverse showcases the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the coin’s monetary denomination.
