1969 50c Specimen Nuphil Yarralumla PNC with blue Registration label '0805'

The 1969 Nuphil "Yarralumla" Postal Numismatic Cover is one of Australia's most fascinating and sought-after numismatic issues. Produced by Nuphil Associates in collaboration with the Royal Australian Mint, it contains the only officially issued specimen-quality 1969 Australian 50 cent coin. When the Mint was unable to supply prepared specimen coins, a special striking was undertaken using unpolished blanks exclusively for this release. Each cover was individually numbered and postmarked at Yarralumla on 1 September 1969, giving rise to its famous nickname.

Just 1,330 covers are believed to have been produced, with only a handful remaining unstamped. As the sole source of a specimen 1969 50 cent coin, many covers were dismantled over the years, making intact examples increasingly scarce. Combining rarity, provenance and an intriguing production story, the Yarralumla Cover remains a cornerstone of Australian decimal coin collecting and an exceptional addition to any advanced collection.

The key Australian PNC with only 1350 'specimen' 1969 50c struck.
