The 1939(M) Australian Florin was struck at the Melbourne Mint during the reign of King George VI. Composed of 92.5% sterling silver and weighing 11.31 grams, the florin features the familiar Australian coat of arms on the reverse, with the King’s portrait on the obverse.
The “M” mintmark identifies the Melbourne Mint origin. An attractive pre-decimal silver issue, the 1939 florin is a popular addition to collections of Australian Commonwealth coinage.
