The 1915 Austria Gold Ducat was restruck to meet continued demand from collectors and investors. Austria authorised these restrikes because ducats were historically used as trade coins, and their high gold purity (98.6%) made them desirable. Since ducats were no longer circulating currency, restrikes allowed for ongoing production without altering the design.
