This bronze commemorative medal was issued by Manchester Grammar School and engraved by the renowned medallist William Wyon. The obverse features a three-quarter facing bust of Carolus Lawson A.M., rendered in fine neoclassical detail. The reverse bears the Latin motto “Palmam qui meruit ferat,” meaning “Let him who has earned it bear the palm,” surrounded by a laurel wreath symbolising honour and achievement. The edge is personally engraved with “W.S. Milne 1895, Second,” denoting the recipient and year awarded. This piece reflects both academic distinction and the school’s long tradition of celebrating scholarly excellence.
